What to Expect
We'll start with a free brief phone conversation (10-15 min) so I can hear about what you are looking for, you can get a sense of who I am and if you would like to work with me. I'll ask for some basic information to get to know you, your broad treatment goals, and also use this time to answer any questions that you might have. If it feels like we are a good fit for working together, we will schedule an online appointment.
In the first few sessions, we will explore your history, outline a treatment plan, and explore the goals you have for therapy. They can be as broad as wanting to get to know yourself better, to more specific goals like wanting to improve your relationships, build better coping strategies to manage stress, and/or explore your ambivalence around a certain topic.
The length and number of sessions will differ depending on your goals and needs for therapy. In general in the beginning, I like to meet with my clients weekly to build a therapeutic relationship, but after we have built rapport we can decide if only a couple sessions was enough, if you would like to meet weekly in an ongoing way for an indefinite period of time, move down to every other week, etc. This can be an ongoing conversation between us to determine what level of outpatient care feels like the best fit for you and we can be flexible on what it means based on what you are needing.

The federal “No Surprises Act” you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health services will cost. Under the law, healthcare providers are required to give clients who do not have insurance or are not using insurance an estimate of expected chargers for mental health services. This act also requires that health care providers inform their clients of this right. You have the right to ask your health care provider for a good faith estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your good faith estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy of your bill or take a picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
